Unlike crowded dive shops that rush 10–12 students through pool cattle-calls, By The Shore SCUBA limits class sizes to low student-to-instructor ratios (typically 4:1). You receive individual coaching from PADI Master Instructor Kevin Alexander in a heated indoor Raleigh pool and calm Fantasy Lake spring quarry.

Core Dive 1: Deep Diving (100 ft / 30m)

Do I have to wait a certain amount of time after Open Water to take Advanced?
No! You can enroll in Advanced Open Water immediately after completing your Open Water certification. Many divers find taking Advanced right away is the best way to solidify their buoyancy and gain deep dive comfort.
Are there written exams for Advanced Open Water?
No formal written exams are required! You complete simple chapter reviews in your PADI eLearning, followed by pre-dive briefings and practical in-water adventure dives.
Can we complete Advanced dives on North Carolina coastal wrecks?
Yes! We conduct Advanced Open Water checkouts at Fantasy Lake Adventure Park in Wake Forest and during our scheduled offshore dive charters off Morehead City and Beaufort, NC.
