Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete the PADI Open Water certification in Raleigh?

Most students complete their certification in two weekends following online eLearning. Weekend 1 consists of confined-water pool sessions in our heated Raleigh pool, and Weekend 2 consists of 4 qualifying open water checkout dives at Fantasy Lake Adventure Park in Wake Forest.

Do I need to be an expert swimmer to get scuba certified?

No athletic expertise is required, but you must have basic water comfort: a 200-meter continuous surface swim (or 300m with mask/fins/snorkel) without stopping, and a 10-minute survival float or water tread.

Where do the open water training dives take place?

Our qualifying dives take place at Fantasy Lake Adventure Park in Wake Forest, NC (about 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh). It offers calm freshwater conditions, dive platforms at 15–25 feet, and zero currents or boat traffic.
